UAE Ministry now issues work permits in just 2 days

The process to obtain a work permit or employment visa in the UAE is fairly straightforward. The majority of expats arrive in the UAE having secured employment. Most UAE companies streamline the visa process and handle all residence visa and work permit requirements, including covering visa fees.

Labor cards are issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE) and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in the emirate state of employment. Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization said work permits can now be processed within two working days by their new smart committee.

The new changes were made during the ongoing GITEX Technology Week in Dubai.

Within two days, business owners can obtain work permits through the smart committee service, which scans online applications made by establishments.

For any new employment, the employer will need to apply for the work permit. A work permit will allow an expatriate to enter the UAE for employment.

Once the expat enters the country, the employer sponsoring you should then proceed to complete other formalities such as medical testing, obtaining an Emirates ID card, a Labor Card, and the work residency permit stamped on your passport. The work residency permit is issued by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) from the emirate where you will be employed.

If you have family members joining you, you will be eligible to sponsor them and bring them into the UAE once this process has been completed.

If you are already in Dubai on a tourist visa, you will need to request a change in the status of your visa.
