I am a commercial consultant in Dubai having over 8 years of experience after qualification. In terms of the type of my practice, it consists of the corporate, banking, financial and labour laws, where the key aim of mine is helping companies deal with potential risks related to their legal and commercial activities.
I am qualified as an Attorney-at-Law in Sri Lanka and as a Solicitor of England and Wales (SQE2 exempted). Hence, I am able to evaluate cases from an international perspective.
Throughout my practice, I have been dealing with many projects, such as being a Chief Legal Officer in the United Kingdom for a property group company, and being an Associate in a prestigious law firm. The practice has entailed providing advice on international business transactions and deals.

Case Study: Large-Scale Asset Recovery and Compliance Restructuring
The Problem
As the Chief Legal Officer in a property company operating in the United Kingdom, I encountered an issue whereby there existed massive non-compliance issues in more than 50 properties. In addition, the firm faced an overwhelming amount of debt from more than 120 tenants. Therefore, it became necessary to formulate a strategy that would address both the compliance and debt recovery issues.
The Strategy Approach
First, it was necessary to put in place a proper compliance system in the company through risk management and training. Simultaneously, I employed the use of solicitors who were going to help me recover the debt.
Moreover, I carried out an audit of the company’s commercial agreements.
The Result
Using this strategy, I successfully managed to recover 80 percent of the debt. Besides, the company improved immensely in its compliance system.
